District Governor Bio: Linda Hughes, a life-long Tulsan, has been associated with Lions Clubs since 1956 when her husband, Bill Crow, was a charter member of the Tulsa Metro Lions Club. She married Bob Hughes in 2000 and has been a widow since 2006. Joining the Metro Lions Club in 1991, she has held the office of president twice and as served as secretary for many years. She served as district secretary under three District Governors (Gene Curtis, Kenneth Smith and Bill Gardner), served the district twice as vice district governor and 2008-09 will be her second term as district governor. Linda was elected as state council chairperson for 2002-03. She has served on the state convention planning committee for 4 conventions, on the OK Lions Service Foundation board, and is currently on the boards of the Dr. Briggs Memorial Scholarship Foundation and the OK Lions Boys Ranch. She was her club’s Lion of the Year in 2000 and received the Lions Life-Time Membership in 2007. She is a Melvin Jones Fellow, and has twice received the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation. In 2003, Linda and her husband, Bob, chartered the Broken Arrow Evening Lions Club and they served as guiding Lions there for 2 years; she is still an Associate Member of that club. In 2005, Linda coordinated the Tulsa Ranch Acres Lions Club (with only 5 members and on Status Quo) into becoming a Branch Club under Tulsa Metro. Linda has sponsored about 20 people into Lionism and has attended 6 International Conventions and 4 USA/Canada Forums. She continues to work part-time at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa where she retired in 1999 after 20 years as an administrative assistant. Linda is active in her church and her hobbies include traveling and watching the University of Tulsa football and basketball games. She has 3 sons, 6 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
